Kocak Wedding, Doverload and Back to Training

It is has been too long since my last update. Since then, I traveled back to Saratoga for one of my best friends weddings where I was a bridesmaid. I then had one day of work and then AA and I road tripped for 6 days! This week has been spent trying to get back in to training! The tri is one month from today! I am really starting to freak out...but I'll leave that for another post

Saratoga – Kocak Wedding (5/30-6/3)
I managed only ONE run while I was home on Friday, lame! The run was hot and HUMID! I never sweat this much in Denver!
Saturday was the wedding, had an amazing time, and best of all got to see Amber and Nate finally tie the knot :-)
L to R...Kels, Mom and I!...Sister pic!....Kels, Me, Allie....HS girls and the bride!
Holy Humidity...
Road Trip – Denver, CO --> Taos, NM --> Bernalillo, NM --> Phoenix, AZ --> Denver, CO (6/5-6/10)
Wednesday: Taos, NM – we stopped through Taos (4.5 hours from Denver) on our way to Tamaya. We stopped at Taos Mesa Brewing for lunch and a brew. It was wonderful. Then we took an adventurous back way to Manby Hot Springs. We hiked down the canyon to the side of the Rio Grande River with two awesome hot springs, and one naked man.  We finished the drive and arrived at the Hyatt Tamaya Resort outside Albuquerque, NM…amazing place!

Thursday: got up early for a 3.7 mile run and then about 30 minutes of laps in the pool!
Per a recommendation we drove to Cochiti Pueblo, about 40 miles southwest of Santa Fe, NM and hiked at Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument. It was a neat hike through some slot canyons and then hiking up the canyon for some spectacular views of the rocks which look like tents!
We checked out Santa Fe afterwards, which is a great city filled with shops, artists, food, etc!
Swimming, Tent Rocks, and Umbrella drinks!

Tamaya Resort and Spa...compliments of AA!

Tent Rocks! So cool

Friday: AA and I went for a short run (his first since another ear complication) and got on the road for Phoenix! It was another 6.5 hour drive but went quickly and there was actually some great scenery as we dropped in to the ‘valley’.

Doverload 2K13 was great – this was a family reunion for AA’s family. Half the family was at the Hyatt Resort at Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale and the remainder live in the Phoenix area.  I did get in 2 runs at the gym and some recreational swimming, but seeing as though it was 110+ degrees, not much outside!

I wasn’t concerned with my workouts though, there was plenty else! We got to visit with AA’s cousins the first night and meet their adorable puppy Bernie.

Saturday was a pool day for the whole gang (3.5 acres) followed by the Mexican Fiesta.

mexican AA!

Grandma Bobby enjoying her Boston Creme Birthday Cake! 88!

Sunday was brunch, shopping, pool and the bowling tournament! Team Panda pulled out the win! It ended with a great Italian dinner where the adult table got a little rowdier than the childrens!
Doverload 2013!
Team Panda! Winners!

The drive back Monday was long and uneventful. 13+ hours straight was tough but totally worth the rest of the weekend!

Now back to training…
Tuesday – POOPED, but managed a 45 min walk w/ the pups and the ‘7 min workout’
Wednesday – bike to work! First of the season, 16 miles, 76 minutes…great way to start the day. Plus ‘7 min workout’
Thursday – AM swim (1750m…Wash Park is open again) + 3 mile run at lunch on Treadmill (hard!)
Friday – bike to work! Slower…really tired this AM!
one of the exercises from '7 min workout' app!

Weekend outlook:
Excited to have a down weekend and get some trainings in! Long run on Saturday then a brick workout Sunday…open water swim at Grant Ranch than a bike ride! Hello weekend! :-)

I'll leave with this...cutest pup! Plus Scarlet...

  1. Great summary of a very busy couple of weeks. It was great to see you and Molly for the weekend. Good luck with the last week of preparations before the triathlon --it will be a learning experience any way it turns out!
